Tools and Instruments

Kherkha is a basket made with bamboo. The bamboo is split into thin sticks and beautifully knotted to form a circular circumference basket with average diameter of 60-70 cm and height of 45 cm.

दौला(Doula) is one of the beautiful ear ornaments mainly worn by the old women of the bodo community.

Alari Bathi is the Earthen lamp used while praying to God. It is made with clay. In Boro culture the Alari Bathi is lighted with mustard oil and thread, sometimes cotton.

Phestha/Sindai (फेसथा/सिनदाइ) is a pot stand. It is made with straw, the size of the Phestha/Sindai depends on the size of the items kept on top of it .

Selthao/Salthao (सेलथाव/सालथाव) is a play item, a bamboo gun. The material used to make Selthao is branch of the bamboo.

Sandanga is a bamboo sieve. It is made with bamboo. The main use of Sandanga is to separate straw from the paddy and also different kinds of unwanted components from thrashed materials.

‘Gisib’ is a hand fan. The material used for making Gisib is bamboo. The purpose served by the hand fan is to create a cool breeze.

Zigab Dirung/Durung (जिगाब दिरुं/दुरुं) is a type of rope. It is prepared by spiralling straws from the Maihung or from a pile of straws.

खादा (Khada) is a type of bamboo basket. The bamboo stick is knotted to form the basket. The use of Khada is to carry rice grains, serials etc.
