The new leaves of alusro, ginger and black pepper are boiled together and made into soup, and also sometimes mix tea to drink it to cure cough and cold. The flower of alusro on the other hand is boiled together with fermented fish and used as side dish as chutney.
Traditionally Dimasa people used it for its medicinal purpose to cure cough and cold. The new leaves of this plant is used as medicine. This practice is still in use by Dimasa community.
