Pitcher is used to fetch water from pond or river and also sometimes to store water. The pot is either made of steel or brass. This pot is usually carried by women, grabbing it with arms, supported by waist on the base. the pitcher is designed such a way that it is convenient to carry by women. Sometimes it is also carried over head.
The pitcher made with brass is used for the rituals such as, in marriage or for offerings to gods. Steel pitcher is however is not used as it is believed that steel is impure by Dimasa community and not appropriate for use in rituals. Brass pitcher is believed to be pure and for this reason it is used in all the rituals by Dimasa.
