The Dimasa folk story of Jaingeluma (Firefly) and Magusha (Monkey) narrated by Nrityojoy Hoja of Kumacherra village is about a Firefly and a Monkey who were friends and brother and one day went for roaming at a night time, The monkey was clever and selfish so he thought to make firefly his friend as he will be freely able to roam with the light of firefly during the night time. Therefore both of them went to roam at night, Monkey followed the light of Firefly and jumped from one place to another but after a while he fall in a deep hole and was unable to come out from there. After a while a tiger came near them, so monkey thought to ask the tiger to help him in coming out from the hole as he is much stronger then his friend firefly. Monkey said to tiger take him out from the hole and then eat him, tiger agreed to that and took him out from the hole and got ready to ea the monkey but as the monkey was very clever so very cleverly he said to the tiger to clean him first as there was all mud on his body. Tiger agreed to him and cleaned him water, so tiger again got ready to eat him but the clever monkey again said him that he is not properly dry so if he eat him like this then, he may not taste good. Tiger decided to get monkey's body fully dry but meanwhile the two branches of tree moved towards monkey by the strong wind, monkey immediately climbed on those branches and ran away. Tiger was fooled by the monkey so he decided to trap monkey one day, he chased the people who were going to the market for buying fermented fish, tiger took that fermented fish and applied on his all body and lied down as he was dead, with the smell of fermented fish all the flies came and sat on tiger's body. After some time everyone thought that the tiger is dead, including the clever monkey. Monkey was very happy relieved to see tiger death, he went to him and said - " Are you the one who wanted to eat me ? " Come and eat now, eat my hand, eat my leg." The monkey was contiuesly offering his hand and legs to tiger for eat but at the end he offered his head and bowed near the tiger, the tiger ate his head and the monkey died.
