Khailim is a traditional bamboo storage used by Dimasa to store clothes.
Description: 

Khailim is made of bamboo, cane and laisra leaf (toko-pat). Either Cane or bamboo is used to make basket. To make the basket waterproof laisra leaf (toko-pat)is boiled so that it sticks together properly making it waterproof. So that water does not leak and ruin the clothes. It is used as storage by Dimasa community.

Cultural Narrative: 

Khailim is a traditional bamboo storage used by Dimasa women to keep their clothes. In ancient time, it is mainly used by women to keep clothes as its bigger in size. This traditional practice is still used by some Dimasa women in some villages. But in some areas Khailim is used as show piece in the houses or as storage to store any item.
