Description: 

Mosaidi (Black pepper) is a creeper whose seed is used as spice by Dimasa community. It is harvested in the month of Agrahayan (Novemeber - December) and only once in a year. The seed of the plant is also grinded  thoroughly and mixed with tea.

Cultural Narrative: 

Mosaidi (Black Pepper) is a medicinal seed which is widely used as remedial for cough. Dimasa people believed that pregnant women get benefitted from consumption of  mosaidi. It is beneficial for both mother and the baby. It is also said that the consumption of mosaidi is good for stomach as well.

Animesh: Aju nishini guwaipang ha mosaidi biding nubadao, nudada aju ke taisi taigni shinghama mijingba. Go bo mosaidi la jing Bangla graojang la Gul morich tidu na, bo la jini smaba ha la moli soli nangba tire, ning mitidu na gaja ha nangdu?

Mahatya: Moli la gushuba smaba ha noha kasa kusu maidu bani go dokhlidada cha shongbaha ridada lingre gushubaha. Bathaikhe dokhlidada.

Animesh: Bo bathaila nadi mash ha maidu?

Mahatya: Bo khe Agrahayan agun push ha.

Animesh: Agun push ha na, maithaisiha pinsi sinu na?

Mahatya: aa pinshisinu

Animesh: Ode buni blaila asaba ha nangdu?

Mahatya: Blai-sma de musi kushi ha nangya nuba giri nangba. [Inaudible]

Animesh: Mosaidi ke de bathaide nukhadao bubar barba nuba giri 

Mahatya: Bubarkhe de angbo khiyal klaiya.

Woman: Bubarde basa basa guphu guphu bardu.
