- ‘Gisib’ is a hand fan. The material used for making Gisib is bamboo. This type of hand fan is mainly found in various parts of India. It is lightweight. The purpose served by the hand fan is to create a cool breeze. The mechanism of the hand fan is simple; it is rotated by holding on hollow bamboo the end part of the hand fan. The bamboo is finely split into thin slices which are then weaved into different shapes and designs. Gisib is prepared in the shapes of circle, rectangular and square. The Gisib displayed in the picture is circular shaped. The circular part is woven which is then connected to another bamboo stick. Another small hollow branch of bamboo is inserted into the bamboo stick for rotating the hand fan to create a breeze. Size- breadth 25 cm, length 30 cm.
