Phathwi (फाथै) is a betel leaf. The betel leaf has important values in Boro culture. A pair of Phathwi is always set with Arecanut while offering to the God. In Boro community Phathwi also serve as a divorce settlement , with the gathering and consent of the community head, society  and family a couple no longer longing to be together for good the separation of couple is done by splitting the Phathwi leaf into half stating God as their witness. After the heavy meal the chewing  गय फाथै (Arecanut with betel leaf)  is also noted among the Boro people.  Phathwi has also medicinal value, when a goat is suffering from dysentery the riped Phathwi is given to the goat in empty stomach, it is believed that it cures the dysentery problem of the goat.
