During the festivals like Wngkham Gwrlwi, Magw, Bwisagw and Domasi it was purified with the sprinkles of holy water as it was a kind of weapon, so in the Bodo community it was considered as an important tool. It was also used in the dance of kherai like Rwnswndri. Earlier the dance was performed with the Thungri now it is replaced by wood and bamboo shaped as Thungri.
