गांग्रिं/गाथा - Cow bells

A round cowbells made of brass

The round ‘cow bells’ (Siiger, manuscript) are made of brass, which is close around a loose clapper of iron (with small traces of rust). The surface of the bell shows traces of polishing, but whether it has been hammered or cat is not known. It may be used for cattle, or for dancers ‘tied around the lower leg’. The Inventory states that is ‘A pear-shaped bell of brass’ with a loose metal ball used for the cows. Item is 2.8- 3.5 cm wide and 4-6 cm high.
