In this video the discussion has been made on a Dimasa birth rituals practiced by the Dimasas of plain (Cachar) region. In a Dimasa society the birth of a child is an occasion for joy and happiness but considered to be more impure than the death of a person, therefore there are some strict norms which are followed and maintained by the Dimasas at a time of child birth.

Nrityojoy: No, they are from other community, before it was there in Dimasa community but after coming here King Krishna Chandra adopted the Hindu rituals.
Monali: Thila ebula Dimasa ni dara ? Dimasa ni niyom edhe thapla layaba kai la ?
Monali: So, is this a Dimasa ritual of using ash like this ?
Nrityojoy: Thapla kai la jing ning rire nabdi nai thila Dimasarao ning shlingrinaiba thibo.
Nrityojoy: The ash is given to barber by us only so may be the Dimasa people have taught them this.
Monali: Thila Dimasarao manai ebu Hawar haphai ni Thapla yaowaidu na yao kai sanitize klaimane.
Monali: That means, Dimasas of this Plain region use ash to sanitize hands.
Nriyojoy: Nana kai dugurima ni phore shlukdi bo hudu.
Nrityojoy: After bathing a new born baby, turmeric is also applied on his body.
Monali: Oh ! Achha bula bishlei din yahon ha hajaiba ni ?
Monali: Oh ! ok how many days after the birth of a baby is it done ?
Nrityojoy: Noi din yahonha.
Nrityojoy: After nine days.
Abesh: Mashainjurao thikade pach din jang bo khanai gushu gardu odehe miya thikade noi din.
Abesh: For a girl, her hair is cut in five days and for a boy nine days,
Nrityojoy: Hasao raji hade thire nana gili ni khanai kai srap shinghakade brain weak jarai thidada srap shoya.
Nrityojoy: In a hilly region they don't cut the baby's hair early as it is said that if a new born baby's hair cut early their brain gets weak.
Monali: Dinshi lai la naidu Hasao hade.
Monali: It takes around a month in a Hilly region.
Nrityojoy: Thikabo Hawar hala bokhro raokhumane odeh khanai hala thii bo nanghi dongdu nana ni bokhro kai la gushu dengjaya odebani srap garkhladu jingla hotmai jogoka ning khanai gushu garkhladu.
Nriyojoy: But in our plain region the hair of a new born baby is cut early so that the baby's head can get hard and also the hair with blood can get removed as the baby cant be keep impure for a long time. So, we cut the hair when the umbilical cord detached from the baby.
